Welcome to my blog! Finding Mielke is about the journey that I am on to find my ancestors.
This is the story of my family and all of the twists and turns it took for me to discover them. It has truly been a long journey to find my ancestors. It all began about 20 years ago, when I had an elementary school project titled, “My Family Tree”. When I went home, my mom and my maternal grandmother “Gram” helped me too fill in the blanks on the tree. On my mom’s side, the Mielke’s and the Lindsay’s we had a decent amount of information, but for my dad’s side there was very little to work. While the blog might be titled Finding Mielke, it’s actually about the journey I have taken to find out about both sides of my family tree.
Of course, in the last 20 years I have found out a lot more about my family. I love searching for records and solving mysteries. There is something so fulfilling to find that elusive ancestor that no one in the family knows anything about.
You might be wondering about the person writing this blog, so here’s a quick rundown. I was born in Pontiac, Michigan in the early 1980′s and lived in Ferndale until we moved to Cullman, Alabama (a small city in north Alabama) when I was 7. All of my mom’s family still lives up north and what remains of my daddy’s family lives in Tennessee. I am
currently attending college for a degree in Business Management and I’ll be finishing up in April. I also work at retail store as a Customer Service Associate. I’m the baby of the family, I have 3 older siblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister. My daddy passed away in December of 2008 from lung cancer. Other than genealogy, I love to scrapbook, read, I am addicted to Facebook (I seriously need to get some help), and of course spend time with my family.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. Please feel free to leave comments! While I still haven’t uncovered all of the branches in my family tree, everyday I get a little closer.
***Update: As of May 2012, I am officially a college graduate! I also changed jobs, I now work as a CSC for Vet Clinic. I can’t believe the way my life changed in just a few months!***
